I am Dr. Julia Nonyerem Ogwunga.
MBBS (Nig.), FWACP (Psych.).
I am a psychiatrist, and an Alumnus of both the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, and the West African College of Physicians. I also hold certificates from the University of Washington, in Leadership and Management in Health; as well as from the World Bank Group, in Basic Health Economics.
I have a firm belief in the words of the former United Nation’s Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, that says that "there is no health without mental health".
I am presently, the Acting Director at the Department of Health Services, Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri Imo State, as my primary duty, and I also serve as a consultant psychiatrist to hospitals in my spare time.
To widen the reach of mental health awareness, I am a weekly guest on a live phone in radio talk show, with topics on mental health issues, on the program, Darling Clinic, on Darling FM 107.3.
I have also been a health columnist on the Leader News Paper for over 15 years.
I give educational lectures in psychiatry to members of the Nigerian Medical Association, Imo State branch, whenever I am invited to do so during their Continual Medical Education (CME).
Parts of other activities also include, interviews and talks on mental health matters to different media outlets, as well as at conferences.
I also publish articles on my blog at docbrainmatters.com to further educate people on brain and mental health issues, so that people can enjoy good quality of life.
